Mission
Throughout my career, I’ve understood the necessity of seamless collaboration across the entirety of any project I’ve worked on. To build a building, to determine the best solution for an industrial plant modification, to determining the cause of a structural failure, you need dozens of different viewpoints, expertise, and people to perform the necessary diligence to bring a concept to reality.
My goal is to leverage my decades of experience and insights into projects to ensure that the end result is a solution that solves the needs of the client in the most economical approach available.
There’s never one way to solve a problem. Often, the most common solution isn’t the best one, especially with volatile markets and costs. I can help you find the best solution.

Background
My career began with the firm Black and Veatch in Kansas City, MO in their Energy Division after graduating from MU in 1978. From there I moved on to George Butler and Associates for three years and then Butler Manufacturing for nine years. I started as their Grain Systems structural manager (grain bins and later other structures) before moving to multi-story structures.
From there, I transitioned to a partnership in a a small consulting firm, MECO Engineering. I lead an expansion of the business, opening a second office in Jefferson City, MO.
I have experience working with and for local, county, and state governments, as well as consultation arrangements with several overseas projects; each with their own unique regulatory specifications and challenges. Additionally, I have done research through Missouri Science and Technology University on light gauge steel roof trusses, and have collaborated on several patents for light gauge steel floor trusses.
